South Africa
South Africa is a place unlike any other.
Its wildlife is epic, its natural beauty is astounding and its diversity is hard to fathom.
It has all the makings of a bucket list trip and for good reason.
For me it is also personal.
My husband grew up there. It was my first home abroad. And it is a place my family returns to often - to reconnect with people we love and places that have become an integral part of our own story.
Yet, it is also a country I never seem to tire of exploring.
There is the South Africa of big landscapes and extraordinary wildlife, certainly. But there are also quiet mountain passes, wild stretches of coastline, small towns, working farms, remarkable food and wine, and vast open spaces where the journey itself becomes part of the experience.
Perhaps that is what I love most about South Africa: there is always more to discover.
And somehow, no matter how many times I return, I come home seeing the world a little different each time.
