Hello again! It’s me, Lauren.
A lifelong traveler, with a particular love for wild places, winding roads and journeys that shift how I see the world.
I've spent decades exploring - traveled across six continents, visited nearly 40 countries and lived abroad.
While I used to be quick to throw on a backpack and head out on my own, these days, I experience the world with a little more structure and my husband and young daughter in tow.
Speaking of my husband, I met him in a hostel in Uruguay - he's the best souvenir I ever brought home. He was born and raised in South Africa, where we first lived together and where his family lives still. It is also the place we return to most often. Over the years, it has become my second home.
These days, you might find us self-driving through the Kruger National Park, hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, roaming the streets of Barcelona, or road-tripping along the Portuguese coast, bags full of snacks and little sandy swimsuits drying in the dash of our rental car.
How I roam has shifted as life has evolved, but what hasn't changed is that free-and-alive feeling of stepping out the door somewhere new with a whole day ahead to discover and explore.
Curiosity and wonder have a place in every stage of life.
Through Ebb & Flo, I bring my years of travel experience to planning thoughtful, highly personalized journeys for others - whether their destination is South Africa or beyond.
I’d love to help you lean into your curiousity and experience more of this great big world.

A little more about me…
-
I have worked in non-profits, small businesses and start-ups in a variety of roles. I have a BBA, an MBA and a special interest in businesses that exist to do good. I am operationally-minded - systems and processes are my thing. Coordinating the many moving parts of an international adventure is one of my favorite ways to channel my operational expertise.
-
I’ve backpacked through South America and Southeast Asia, studied abroad in Australia, lived and traveled in South Africa and visited lots of other countries along the way.
Some of my favorite journeys in recent years: a summer month roadtripping in Portugal, an extended family adventure through Ireland and Spain, a Greek island-hopping journey with friends, and a spur of the moment Covid-era exploration of Belize with our tiney infant on board.
Places I hope to get to soon: Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia. They’ve been hovering at the top of my list for far too long!

Nature-focused, immersive, curious, go with the flow; responsible, respectful, celebratory of people and place; splurge where it matters, chose your own adventure where you can; inspired, design-forward spaces; independently-owned properties; off-the beaten trail

The Kruger National Park is tops! There’s truly nothing quite like it in the world. I’ve been on well over a dozen trips there, often staying for a week or two at a time, and it never feels like long enough. Being immersed in the wild and truly disconnected from the demands of the modern world does wonders for my soul.

Worries about how parenthood would affect our ability to travel were once some of my biggest and most unfounded concerns. Having a little one along has renewed my sense of wonder and helped me see even the most familiar places with fresh eyes. The pace has changed a little and the packing has changed a lot. But children are surprisingly capable, flexible and resilient when given the chance to build the skill.
Travelling with my daughter brings me an indescribable amount of joy. And she has learned countless lessons out in the world that I couldn’t have taught her at home. My best advice, pack the bags , fill them with snacks and load them in, no matter their age.

Start with intention - what are you truly hoping for from this travel experience. Thoughtful planning and solid logistics create ease when you’re on the road. Leave room for scenic routes and unplanned stops. Stay open-minded and curious - there is always something to learn.
